Flag History
Conceived by founding father Juan Pablo Duarte for his secret independence society La Trinitaria, which overthrew Haitian rule in 1844. Duarte took Haiti's blue and red and quartered them with a white cross; the first flag was sewn by Concepciรณn Bona and Marรญa Trinidad Sรกnchez and raised in Santo Domingo on 27 February 1844.
