Flag History
The tricolor was adopted by the short-lived First Republic of Armenia in 1918, with scholar Stepan Malkhasyants presenting the case for the colors to parliament, then banned through seven decades of Soviet rule. Armenia restored it on 24 August 1990, a year before formal independence.
