The Dannebrog is recognised by Guinness as the oldest continuously used national flag. Legend says it fell from the sky during the Battle of Lyndanisse in Estonia in 1219, turning the tide for the Danish king.

Every Nordic cross flag โ€” Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland โ€” is a descendant of the Dannebrog's off-center cross.
