Adopted: 1957

Designed by artist Theodosia Okoh for the first sub-Saharan colony to win independence. Ghana revived the pan-African red-gold-green of the Ethiopian flag and added the Black Star, borrowed from Marcus Garvey's Black Star shipping line.
