Flag History
Based on a battle standard King Sobhuza II presented to the Swazi Pioneer Corps in 1941, when Swazi troops served alongside British forces in World War II. It became the national flag in 1968, the year the kingdom regained independence from Britain. The black-and-white ox-hide shield of the Emasotsha regiment is shown with two spears and a fighting staff hung with feather tassels.
